FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Installation

How much space is needed to install a dispenser under the bar counter?

The required space depends on the chosen model, but Zerica systems designed for residential are engineered to fit even in compact under-counter cabinets.

Does the under-sink system require a direct water connection?

Yes, all systems need to be connected to the main water supply.

Do you need a power outlet to install a Zerica system?

Yes, all systems need a power outlet. The units remain connected to electricity, but they do not consume energy when not in use or during the night.

How long does it take to install a Zerica system?

Installation is quick and easy thanks to quick-connect fittings. The time required may vary depending on the accessories installed.

Who handles the installation of the system?

Installation is quick and straightforward and can be carried out independently, or with the support of an Authorized Service Center (ASC).

How it works

Is it possible to have still, chilled and sparkling water from the same dispenser?

Absolutely yes. Zerica dispensers allow you to obtain still, chilled and sparkling water from the same device. The new SENSE models (touch controls) and 5.0 models (touchscreen) make selection even simpler and more intuitive.

Are Zerica products compatible with remote monitoring systems?

Yes, Zerica systems can be connected to the Auxilia IoT platform, the remote monitoring portal developed by Zerica and accessible from PC, tablet, and smartphone.

If the system has integrated IoT, it is directly connected to the platform. In any case, all Zerica systems can be brought online using the Auxilia Box.

With Auxilia, you can:

  • remotely monitor consumption, alarms, and many technical parameters;

  • manage and monitor systems from other brands;

  • check water quality;

  • receive notifications and optimize maintenance in real time.

How noisy is a home water dispenser?

A modern home water dispenser produces very little noise, mainly during the water cooling phase.

Zerica systems are designed to be extremely quiet thanks to the Super Silent system included in the domestic range. This allows you to use them comfortably in the kitchen without disturbance, even in smaller spaces or in open-plan living areas.

Health

How can I know if my tap water is safe to drink?

Tap water supplied by the public utility is safe and of good quality (unless otherwise communicated). However, the presence of storage tanks and aging pipes can affect the final quality of the water. Zerica offers a wide range of treatment systems to provide you with water that is safe and pleasant to drink.

How can you make tap water safe to drink?

In specific cases, to obtain water that is truly drinkable and safer to consume, installing an effective filtration system is enough. Reverse osmosis systems, such as YouRo, remove many unwanted substances, improving the taste and purity of the water you use every day. It is a simple and compact solution, ideal if you want to drink directly from the tap with complete peace of mind.

Do Zerica products remove PFAS from tap water?

Yes, some Zerica solutions are designed to significantly reduce PFAS thanks to advanced filtration systems such as YouRo, which uses reverse osmosis technology and high-performance activated carbon. The choice of the model depends on the water quality in your area and your daily usage needs. Contact us for more information!

Do Zerica products remove arsenic from water?

Yes, Zerica reverse osmosis systems, such as YouRo, can significantly reduce the arsenic present in tap water. It is one of the most effective technologies for improving water safety and quality in cases of specific contamination. The most suitable solution always depends on the actual water values in your area. Contact us for more information!

Do Zerica products remove limescale from tap water?

No, Zerica offers systems for drinking water, and limescale is a problem related exclusively to faucets, pipes, and household appliances.

Can limescale in water damage the kidneys?

Don’t worry: limescale is not harmful to the kidneys in healthy people. It is mainly composed of calcium and magnesium, minerals that are also commonly found in food. In general, there is no correlation between “hard” water and kidney problems. However, if you have a predisposition to kidney stones or specific medical conditions, it is always best to follow your doctor’s advice.

Do Zerica products also remove chlorine and heavy metals?

Yes. Chlorine is easily reduced by activated carbon filters, so the water regains a more natural taste. For heavy metals, you can rely on our reverse osmosis systems: products such as YouRo filter the water much more deeply, offering an extra level of safety for you and your family.

Does reverse osmosis remove all the minerals from water?

Reverse osmosis significantly reduces mineral salts, but it does not necessarily remove them all. The final level depends on the quality of the incoming water and the type of system used. The result is lighter water with a very controlled mineral profile. If you want to maintain a certain level of mineral content, there are solutions that allow you to adjust it easily.

What is the difference between purified water and demineralized water?

Purified water is tap water that has been filtered to remove impurities, odors, and unwanted substances, while still retaining part of its natural minerals. It is the ideal water for everyday drinking.

Demineralized water, on the other hand, is water from which mineral salts have been almost completely removed. It is not intended for consumption, but for technical uses (irons, batteries, household appliances).

What is the difference between tap water and bottled water?

Tap water is safe and controlled, but its taste and quality can vary depending on the pipes and the area where you live. Bottled water has a stable mineral profile, but it involves costs, plastic, and transportation. With Zerica products, you can have better-tasting, more sustainable water directly from your tap, always available.

Taste

Can I get light water from the tap like bottled water?

Yes, with Zerica advanced filtration systems you can obtain lighter and more pleasant water directly from the tap. Our solutions reduce salinity, odors, and unwanted substances, improving the taste and quality of the water you use every day. You can also adjust the level of mineralization according to your preferences, just as you would when choosing a bottle.

How can I improve the taste of tap water?

If your tap water has a taste you’re not satisfied with, a home filtration system can make a big difference. Zerica devices reduce odors, chlorine, and other substances that often affect taste, making the water more pleasant to drink and also ideal for cooking. Depending on the characteristics of your area, you can choose from different technologies, all easy to install.

Can water affect the taste of food and drinks prepared at home?

Yes. The quality of water directly affects the taste and outcome of many foods and drinks we prepare every day. Coffee, tea, pasta, bread, desserts, and even ice turn out best when prepared with purer and more balanced water.

Treated water enhances aromas, prevents unwanted aftertastes, and allows recipes to express their full natural flavor.

Do Zerica products improve water for cooking and washing fruit and vegetables as well?

Yes, making coffee or tea with purified water — as well as cooking rice and pasta — results in a different taste when using “clean” water.

Maintenance

What kind of maintenance does a Zerica product require and how often?

Zerica systems generally do not require special periodic maintenance. The main attention should be given to the filtering elements, following the specifications and replacement schedules of each of them.

Who can take care of the maintenance of Zerica products?

The maintenance of Zerica products is within everyone’s reach, as replacing the cartridges is a simple operation and does not require a specialized technician.

Savings

How much does it cost to drink tap water compared to bottled water?

Drinking tap water with a good filtration system is much more convenient than bottled water. With a Zerica solution, you drastically reduce recurring costs and say goodbye to carrying heavy packs, with an immediate benefit for the environment thanks to the reduction of plastic use. A home system allows you to have good water every day, at significantly lower costs.

How long does it take to recover the investment in a home water purification system?

The payback time is closely related to daily water consumption, but in any case it is an expense that pays for itself over time by eliminating not only the direct costs of bottled water but also the indirect costs related to transport and disposal.
